Objective: A 18-year-old patient with secondary amenorrhea and normal sexual characteristics refereed to us for chromosome study. She was proved to have a karyotype 45, X[28] / 46, X, r (x) (p?;q?) [12]. She was premature delivered at 7 months. At the age she diagnosed to have this ring chromosome was mentally at normal range but physically and developmentally delayed. Our findings indicate the necessity for cytogenetic studies in certain cases of amenorrhea. This is a very rare karyotype in patients with secondary amenorrhea. Materials and Methods: lymphocyte cultures from the patients were set up in RPMI1640 supplemented with 20% FBS.high resolution chromosome banding was performed in all subject.
